Cobra Deck and Concrete has extensive knowledge on residential and commercial concrete maintenance projects. Each concrete project is unique and has different issues and needs of the customer. For each customer, we will tailor a solution that will meet these needs. The types of concrete solutions we provide are pressure washing any concrete structure and clear coat concrete sealing, concrete stains, concrete coatings, concrete slip issues, stamped concrete sealing or full restorations, front porch concrete solutions, back patio solutions, pool deck coatings, business entrances, and any other concrete projects. Each of the different functions of these different applications will be discussed below:
Clear coat sealer – This sealer is predominantly used for driveways and walkways to the house. This sealer is invisible and does not highlight any of the imperfections of the concrete. The sealer is a full penetrating sealer so it creates the protection inside the concrete and not on the surface. This sealer provides protection from oil spills, freeze/thaw cycles, spalling, stain protection, makes it stay cleaner longer from organics, mold, and mildew, and makes the surface easier to power wash when that time is needed. This sealer is to be used when you just want to protect the surface for a few years with no color, no enhancement and no change to the surface at all.
Concrete stains – This sealer is basically the clear coat sealer with a color added to it to change the color of the concrete and still provide some protection. A good way to think about this sealer is think about a semitransparent stain on a deck over a painted deck. This sealer is a full penetrator that will highlight the unique character of the concrete. It is not a coating where everything will look the same and be completely uniform. This is to be used to give the concrete a unique look and, depending on the application, we can add a hard clear coat to the top surface to protect the concrete stain.
Stamped concrete clear coat – All stamped concrete needs to be maintained with a clear coat protection layer over the top of the “stamp” every 2 to 3 years. This is a very easy process and can be completed with a simple clean and reapplication of the clear sealer.
Stamped concrete full restoration – This process is needed when a stamped concrete surface has been neglected so long that the “stamp is wearing unevenly or it has been worn away all together. Also, if you want to change the color scheme of the stamped concrete, we can do that with this process. The process to perform a full restoration is to use a color toned sealer as the “base” coat to cover up all of the imperfections of the old surface. Then, a semitransparent stain is floated on the surface and falls into the low spots to create the faux look. Finally we put one to two coats of the same semitransparent concrete stain on the surface to darken to the customer’s liking. Finally, a clear, stain guard is placed over the top of the entire system to protect the “stamp.” As long as this clear top coat is maintained every 2-4 years, the look of the stamped concrete area will last 10-20 years.
Color coatings – If you look at concrete (including new concrete) closely, it has different colors, different textures, and is not as uniform as you would think. In addition, over time, unprotected concrete will get stains that are unable to be removed by just pressure washing and cleaning agents. These concrete situations are perfect for a concrete surface coating. A color coating can make the surface completely uniform in color (different textures will still remain). These coatings will cover up unsightly blemishes, concrete stains, and other inconsistencies of the concrete making it look much better and professional, while protecting the concrete at the same time. Cobra Deck and Concrete provides these coatings to front porch concrete areas, back concrete patios, concrete sidewalks and driveways. In some instances, we will also put these uniform coatings on garage floors, for those that do not like the “busy” speckled look of other garage floor coating systems that are currently out there.
Top coats – Almost all of our coating systems will have a final clear top coat installed that can have grit / slip resistance added. These top coats create the “wear bar” allowing the coating system to only need simple maintenance every 3 years, on average. This top coat also provides chemical resistance, heat / hot performance tire resistance, and some stain resistance.
