The process of interior cleaning involves removal of buildup and organic debris from the inside of the gutters. As an added service, we can check the passage of water and make sure the water will flow properly through the downspouts of the house. Exterior cleaning of the gutters typically will involve just a simple power wash to remove dirt, mold, and mildew. However, the metal powder coating of gutters can collect what we call “tiger striping.” This vertical black line is an organic stain that develops from water overflowing the gutters and dripping down the outside. This stain can be cleaned from the outside, but typically needs a different cleaner and will normally need to be cleaned by hand. If this situation is left for years, these organic stains can penetrate the powder coating and will not come off of the gutters, lightening the stain is as best as can be done without recoating the gutters.
